Wieke Kaptein: 'There will be a lot of smiling'
In the busy run-up to the start of the season, Wieke Kaptein took time out to throw some light on the season ahead for the women's team.
Here's what she had to say about the squad, the forthcoming season and the mood in the dressing room.
What are your expectations for the season ahead?
I expect to see a lot of smiling and a lot of goals. Of course, this won't always be easy. But as soon as you start enjoying the matches and your team-mates, and you start scoring goals and getting your name on the sheet, then it'll really get going.
How's the squad shaping up?
The squad is looking really good. There's a good mix of experienced players and some real talent coming through. We've got some exciting new players and the squad is nice and complete. We have sufficient depth in every position and that's important.
What was the mood like at the first training session?
It was great. I was thrilled to be back on the field with the squad again after the summer break. Everyone's excited about the season ahead. We've got a good group of players who are all pushing each other to get better.
